Velocis is a high performance SQL client-server database system thatnaturally manages relational data, complex object data, and sophisticatedmultimedia data with the same level of scalability, reliability,accessibility, and security. Velocis provides support for industry-standard interfaces and tools, including C, C++, ODBC, SAG CLI, ANSI SQL,and object-oriented program- ming. Used with Raima Object Manager,Velocis helps commercial application developers to evolve an object-oriented pparadigm while preserving existing investments in SQL-basedappli- cations and development skills. The multi-threaded databaseserver supports both standard Two-Tier Client-Server Architecture andIntelligent Two-Tier Client-Server Architecture. Intelli- gent Two-TierArchitecture facilitates application partitioning between the client andserver by allowing application logic and database access logic to behosted and executed from the server, thus providing a way to minimize RPCtraffic.Velocis performance is enhanced by several features including the abilityto create Server Extensions, a query optimizer, and a CREATE JOIN DDLstatement that allows the creation of direct relationships betweenmultiple tables. Velocis provides MS-Windows system performance anddatabase administration utilities. Also, includes a library of over 200low level C APIs for direct manipulation of the database. Velocis isavailable for Win., Windows NT, Netware, OS/2, SCO, HP/UX, Solaris, andAIX.
